Open Source Decentralized Identity (DID) and Verifiable Credentials (VC) Management Platform by
What is CREDEBL?
CREDEBL, a Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust project, is an open-source, population scale platform designed to simplify and
secure the management of Decentralized Identity and Verifiable Credentials. CREDEBL is designed to be multi-tenant, agent-agnostic and
ledger-agnostic, providing flexibility across different Verifiable Data Registries (VDRs), DID methods, and Verifiable Credential formats.

Why CREDEBL is
Open Source?
- CREDEBL is open source because we believe in making decentralized identity technology accessible to everyone. Through this open approach, we aim to accelerate the global adoption of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI).
- Our commitment to openness fosters collaboration, allowing individuals and organizations to contribute, innovate, and build secure, trustless solutions for the future of digital identity.
About CREDEBL
- CREDEBL is built on open standards and open source, based on AYANWORKS deep understanding of decentralized identity and its experience in deploying these solutions at population scale.
- After delivering successful decentralized identity solutions, the team identified the need for a versatile platform adaptable to various industries and use cases for Verifiable Credentials (VC).
- CREDEBL was created as a scalable core platform for Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), enabling secure, privacy-respecting identity solutions with user control over personal data.
Recent implementations of CREDEBL
Discover how CREDEBL is transforming identity management around the world:
Bhutan NDI
CREDEBL serves as the protocol layer for managing verifiable credentials in Bhutan’s National Digital Identity (NDI) initiative. This cutting-edge solution provides secure and verifiable identity credentials to Bhutanese citizens, facilitating trusted interactions between individuals and organizations. With Bhutan NDI, citizens can take control of their personal data, sharing only what’s necessary for each transaction. It also enables remote onboarding for various online services, saving time and reducing costs by eliminating the need for physical visits to offices.
Digi Yatra International Travel PoC
CREDEBL powered the Digi Yatra Foundation's successful proof-of-concept for international digital travel credentials, conducted as part of IATA Contactless PoC technical trials in collaboration with IndiGo Airlines, SITA and BLR Airport. The initiative demonstrated standards-based global interoperability for verifiable credentials, enabling seamless, privacy-preserving, and interoperable air travel across jurisdictions without centralized storage of personal data.
Sovio
Sovio, built on top of the CREDEBL platform, streamlines the creation of decentralized identity solutions at a population scale. By removing the complexities of building from scratch, it provides a secure, privacy-focused identity management system that enables organizations to deploy trusted solutions quickly and efficiently. Sovio seamlessly builds, issues, verifies, and manages all types of verifiable credentials, offering a comprehensive and streamlined approach to digital identity management.
We are honoured with the Prestigious
Republic Business Emerging Technology Award (RBETA)
Bhutan’s National Digital Identity (NDI) program leverages CREDEBL as its protocol layer. AYANWORKS, being an implementation partner, has received the prestigious Republic Business Emerging Technology Award (RBETA) in the Social Service & CSR category, acknowledging its innovative impact on citizens’ lives.
Technical Steering Committee (TSC)
We are focused on creating a community that’s both diverse and welcoming, where everyone has the chance and responsibility to help the project grow. However, we understand the importance of having a leadership team to guide the project and ensure progress. To manage this, we’ve formed a Technical Steering Committee (TSC), which currently consists of 7 members.
